Strategic plans of tourism for local development. A proposal of analysis method of the “fundamental questions"
Abstract
In Argentina, from 2000, a period of strategic plans were implemented in different territorial administrative levels, and in some cases, focused on specific economic areas, such as tourism.
Particularly, the existence of a systematic record of these plans, as well as the existence of an analysis of the documentation from the perspective of "local development" is unknown. Some tourism experts suggest that there are few studies in relation to tourism and development in Argentina, with particular emphasis on studies applied to provincial and municipal levels.
In this context, the specific objectives of the first phase of this research were:
- To elaborate a recording of strategic tourism plans at the provincial level for the period 2003-2013 in Argentina.
- To analyze these strategic tourism plans using the method of "fundamental questions" of local development based on the methodology proposed by the DEMUCA-CEDET Foundation (2009).
